Network Marketing – Nightmare or Sweet Dreams?

Yes, we have all heard the horror stories of my best friend’s brother who had a cousin who knew somebody in one of those things that had a garage filled with stuff that they were stuck with. When they sold their house they even left them all there so that the people who bought that house would have to deal with it. I know that I myself, Suzanne Lavigne, have heard these stories or similar over time. But is there any truth to any of those urban type legends. I am sure that we all know of someone who has been in one network marketing business or another over a period of time but are they all created equal and is it the company that failed them or did they fail themselves?

There are many different companies that choose to market their products through the network marketing business model. These days it can be referred to as Multi Level Marketing, Network Marketing, Direct Marketing or even Relationship Marketing. There are reasons why companies choose to market this way.

1. Their product does not get put into stores where it will be lost among thousands of other products that may or may not be similar in nature. Taking up space and increasing overhead costs which are usually passed onto the consumer, that’s you
2. Word of mouth is the fastest way to get something on the market. If you like something then you will tell others, who tell others, who tell others etc. Also word of mouth keeps advertising costs down and that results in lower product costs to the consumer

So why does the average person decide to join an MLM company? There are many reasons including time leverage, residual income and tax benefits. Network marketing is one of the few businesses that do not require employees but you can leverage your time by building a network of people. The network that you have built and helped those people to become successful generates a residual income for you. This income will keep working for you long after you stop working. This is not like your regular nine to five job. When you stop working so does your income. The last reason is the tax savings. The average network marketing home business can result in a tax savings of $3000.00 - $9000.00 per year!

The sad truth is many people give up on their business, give up on their dreams and go back to their jobs thinking that their home based business was a nightmare and the system just does not work. The real truth is that many people give up just before the scale tipped in their favour and if they had stayed with it just a little longer the rewards would have been far greater then they ever would have imagined.
